Today marks the day that I’ve been blogging for 5 months, and thanks to Becky from Quinoa and Cookies I’ve got a little bonus post for you all. I’m pleased to say that Becky has nominated Herbs and Spice for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award. The Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award recognizes all of the talented female bloggers out there so I couldn’t be happier to accept the award. Thank you Becky! If you haven’t already checked out Becky’s blog head over there for great ideas for loads of healthy and gluten free recipe ideas. Some of my favorites are her shredded beef and black beans or her cinnamon roll muffins.
The rules of the award are simple, first thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog in your post, then think of ten questions to ask your nominees and answer the questions set to you. The hardest part for me has been working out my nominations with so many other great lady bloggers out there that I’d like to find out more about. But after a good long think my nominations are as follows:
Cooking up the Pantry
La petite Casserole
Ginger & Bread
And the questions I’d like to ask the ladies behind those blogs are:
1. What food can’t you stand or do you think is completely overrated?
2. Where do you hope your blog will be a year from now?
3. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Google plus? And why?
4. Are you a winter or a summer person?
5. What tips would you give anyone just starting off in blogging?
6. What do you find most difficult about blogging?
7. If there was one place in the world you could be right now, where would it be?
8. Which book could you read over and over again?
9. Sweet or savoury?
10. Which women in the public eye do you most admire?
And now without further ado the answers to my questions:
What television show could you watch over and over again without getting sick of it?
Maybe I’m getting old, but I could really sit and watch ‘As time goes by’ with Judy Dench and Geoffrey Palmer over and over again. I’d probably even miss a meal for it and that is saying something.
What is your favorite book/series?
This one is easy. Initially written as a travel guide to the river Thames, this book is undoubtedly one of the funniest books in the English language: ‘Three men on a Boat’ by Jerome K Jerome. Closely followed by ‘Three Men on a Bummel’ which documents the same three men’s bicycle journey through Germany. Over a century later and Anglo German relations really haven’t changed; it is still hilariously funny, especially if you are married to a German.
What is your favourite dessert?
One of my favourites is easily my chocolate pots. They started off life as a chocolate creme brûlée recipe that my mum gave me, along with the helpful hint that they really didn’t need the burnt brown sugar top and they haven’t looked back. But failing that anything with chocolate we do me every time.
Besides blogging, what are your hobbies?
I love to cook obviously, but I also love reading (unfortunately most the time I fall asleep every time I sit down with a book nowadays) running, walking in the countryside and traveling. I recently started up horse back riding again after a 20 year break and I wish I had a lot more time to devote to that.
Extrovert or introvert?
Definitely an introvert but I have moved around quite a lot so I think I manage to hide it quite well.
What would be your ideal vacation?
Easy; somewhere warm and sunny. Blue skies every day with lovely little markets full of delicious food. But nothing to do but read, eat and drink.
Favourite meal: breakfast or dinner?
Well lunch is my thing but if I had to pick I’d go for dinner every time just because of the unlimited possibilities .
What would be your superpower of choice?
Well last time I was asked this I said I’d like the chance to teleport so it’d either be that or the ability to be in two places at once. Something I could use in every day life…
What is your go-to meal to cook?
I love beans, garlic and loads of fresh herbs so anything that combines all that gets my vote. A lovely veggie cassoulet maybe, but a runaway favourite in my house is my Sicilian inspired pesto. Loads of anchovies, garlic, almonds, fresh cherry tomatoes with coriander, it’s always delicious.
Are you an exercise person or not?
I’m not a gym nut but I do get in a bad mood if I can’t get enough running done in a week. Running is my thing, and I should probably branch out into something a bit different to liven things up a bit but nothing clears my head like it. Other than a glass of red wine but that doesn’t go down so well first thing in the morning….
